I selected Dave’s Killer Bread, a local successful bread company.  The current logo, while fun and playful, conveys a false impression as to the quality of the product, which some could possibly perceive as “cheap,” while the bread itself averages around $4.00 a loaf. The intent for the redesign of the logo was to enhance the logo, giving their quality product the recognition it deserves, while maintaining the integrity of the original logo and illustration. The solution was to recreate the arm, remove the balloon text, and used Gill Sans Bold to call attention to the logo. This was designed using Illustrator CS3 and CS4.

Please Note: Dave’s Killer Bread did not commission me for this redesign, nor are they affiliated with the redesign in anyway. This was simply a educational curricular exercise. They make the best quality organic bread, and you should definitely try it. My personal recommendation is Blues Bread. Trust me, it is killer!

The solution was to use the semi-bold Baskerville font for the “T”, placing it inside a framed square, giving it strength and solidarity.  The slight green gradient suggests the focus on finances, and the semi-bold Minion Pro font was used for the “Financial” and sub-head, giving it a professional and established appeal. This was designed in Illustrator CS4, Photoshop CS4, and the text layout was done in InDesign CS4.
