Hood Jazz Band requested a CD cover and inlay be created for their next album, “2nd Time Around”. The design was primarily done in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop CS4, then embedded in Indesign CS4 for print and production. For the design itself, the intent was to capture the feel of jazz within the cover; raw and edgy with an underlying elegance.  To compliment the theme “2nd Time Around”, the repeat sign was implemented on the cover, along with music notes adapted from the track, “Georgia On My Mind”.

The solution was to use the semi-bold Baskerville font for the “T”, placing it inside a framed square, giving it strength and solidarity.  The slight green gradient suggests the focus on finances, and the semi-bold Minion Pro font was used for the “Financial” and sub-head, giving it a professional and established appeal. This was designed in Illustrator CS4, Photoshop CS4, and the text layout was done in InDesign CS4.
